New Orleans has contributed to the evolution of Rock 'n' Roll. Rock 'n' Roll originated in Memphis, TN and made its way down to New Orleans. Many of the Jazz and Blues musicians of New Orleans incorporated Rock 'n' Roll into their own music. Fats Domino is one of these New Orleans musicians that helped shape Rock 'n' Roll

New Orleans is still very involved in Rock 'n' Roll. This historic city annually hosts the Rock 'n' Roll marathon.
Fats Domino's piano damaged during hurricane Katrina
While on our music tour of New Orleans, our tour guide made mention that Rock 'n' Roll began in New Orleans. From the research online it looks as though many cities are vying for the title of the Birthplace of Rock 'n' Roll. As stated above, it is said that New Orleans native, Fats Domino had a large influence on the collaboration that has become Rock 'n' Roll.
House of the Rising Sun
Also on the tour, we discovered the house that is said to be the inspiration to the song House of the Rising Sun. The song, which had been around for some time, was made famous by the British rock group The Animals.
